Alientrust Yells "Fire" In A Crowded Room
Well, here’s a good old bit of fearmongering from Alientrust. Sure enough, there’s some perfectly valid points… but at the same time some people are arguing that it’s meant to get AT back on their feet by making the competition look bad… have they lost too much ground?
“Good Morning Everyone.
Sadly we report to you that yes indeed one of the giants of our industry has been closed for good. The SEC has filed suit and assumed control of 12DailyPro for running what they refer to as a “massive ponzi scheme”.
If you haven’t yet read about it you can get the details here:
www.sec.gov/news/press/2006-26.htm
In response to this we’ve read through the entire complaint against 12DP and have gone over it with a fine tooth comb. Many of the issues that they were cited for are things we’ve never done such as charge “membership fees”.
It seems that much of the problem stems from the fact that there was no product clearly defined, or no specific amount of advertising credits issued for the exchange of money.
This is something we’ve never been a part of - at Alien Trust you are never given any credits without purchasing them and no advertising takes place with being sold.
We have made some changes based on what we’ve read in that the SEC seems very concerned that people are getting paid larger amounts based on doing the same amount of work as those who purchased smaller amounts. Which does in a way make sense - why should a member get paid 800.00 a day for viewing 20 sites when another member only receives .80 cents a day for viewing 20 sites.
So, along with the manual surfbar ( which is now active on all servers ) members will now need to view more ads per day as their Ad Buys increase. I know this may seem unfair to some, but after all folks you could be digging ditches for a living instead, it is a pretty easy gig to view advertising for a living.
The following is the new schedule for Ad Viewing through the AT system.
Ad Buys of less than 1000.00 = 25 Ads
Between 999 and 2000 = 30 Ads
Between 1999 and 3000 = 40 Ads
Between 2999 and 4000 = 50 Ads
Between 3999 and 5000 = 60 Ads
Between 4999 and 6000 = 70 Ads
Between 5999 and 7000 = 80 Ads
Between 6999 and 8000 = 90 Ads
We may be able to decrease this over time but this will stand for now. On a 15 second timer this is only 22.5 minutes a day at the maxmimum Ad Buy. Not bad for a days work.
As I said the manual surf bar is now in place and all sites will be shown manually - we are no longer part of the AutoSurf industry.
By sometime tomorrow the new 5 question survey will be in place (this was also mentioned by the SEC) and as you all know this was something we had already planned on implementing.
Free members will now be able to earn .02 cents per site viewed up to 25 per day which will net them .50 cents for each day surfed and their referral % will be increased to 2% to match Ad Purchasers.
As you all know with the new system you MUST enter an Ad URL or website with each Ad Buy you purchase, this also ensures that REAL advertising is taking place and not just moving money around. When you buy and Ad Buy, your credits are issued to you WITH the url you enter at the time of purchase - this ensures that your advertising is being allocated to the correct site.
On some additional notes, the new forum is up and running and looks really cool I might add so get over there and post. We’ll try and get to the raffle tickets here shortly but the survey is the number one priority right now.
Our new debit card system will be implemented sometime next week and we’ll givve you all the details as we get more of the system finalized - it’s spectacular!
No news on the product line as of yet, we have been scouting some shopping cart software for it though and found a couple that look promising.
We had to take several hours off of some other projects to respond to these changes resulting from the 12DP lawsuit and I truly believe we’re the better for it. We will get back on track with the remaining items starting later on today.
Thanks and have a great day.
